GUSTAV LEONHARDT HARPSICHORD - This is one of those beautifully made recordings that capture the sound of a harpsichord so dramatically right. The recording was made by Dr. Alfred Krings and Thomas Gallia. On top of that it is Gustav Leonhardt who is playing Scarlatti Sonatas K. 215, 216, 263, 264, 52, 490, 491, 492, 308, 309.He plays on a Martin Skrowroneck 1962 cembalo, after a copy of J.D. Dulcken 1745. HARMONIA MUNDI 20 20365-4. Record and cover are NM.

DMITRI ALEEV (ALEXEYEV) PROKOFIEF PIANO CONCERTO NO.3 + SARCASMS - This is a Melodiya White Label LP from 1983 on which Dmitri Alexeyev plays Piano Concerto No. 3 Op. 26 of Sergei Prokofiev. It is a production with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Yuri Timirkanov, recorded in 1982 in analog sound. Label Number: C10 18227-8 Also on this record he plays Sarcasms (Five Pieces for Piano), Op. 17. The record is Excellent. The cover is Excellent as well.

VLADIMIR ASHKENAZY - Rachmaninoff: Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Liszt: Mephisto Waltz no 1, and Feux Follets, Prokofiev: Sonata no 7 in B flat op 83This was one of Ashkenazy's first recordings released in the West. Here it is on German Columbia gatefold blue label with reference WSX 507. The record is VG+ to Excellent and so is the cover. Obviously an item for the collector.

DANIEL BLUMENTHAL MENDELSSOHN - Recordings made during or just after a Queen Elisabeth Competition (Concours Reine Elisabeth) in Brussels, Belgium, are always interesting as they are documents of that time and very often of artists who are somewhat forgotten afterwards or have established a national or international carreer. Daniel Blumenthal plays works by Mendelssohn: Fantasy, 6 Kinderstücke, Rondo Capricioso, Three Fantasies and Variations Sérieuses. The recordings are from 1983.The record is Excellent to Near Mint. The cover is Near Mint. The reference number is 1980 047.

PETER HURFORD HANDEL ORGAN CONCERTOS - The Amsterdam Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra conducted by Joshua Rifkin accompanies Peter Hurford playing Handel on the organ of "Bethlehemkerk" in Papendrecht, Netherlands:
Six Organ Concertos Op. 4, No. 13 (The Cuckoo and the Nightingale), No. 14 in A Major, Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (Organ Sonata in D).
Reference number 414 604-1. The box contains two records in Near Mint condition. The box is Excellent. Two corners have been repaired. Nevertheless a rare item.

On it play the Sanssouci Ensemble Hamburg: Thomas Pietsch and Gezine Hildebrandt (violin), Christiane Jung (Violoncello), and Martin Nitz (Harpsichord). It is rare reportory from the early baroque era: Cima, Marini, Castello, Turini, Vierdanck, Rosenmüller, Pachelbel.The record is NM. The cover is Excellent Plus.

HOWARD SHELLY RACHMANINOFF - A relatively rare recording of Howard Shelley performing Rachmaninov's Variations on a Theme of Chopin and those on a Theme of Corelli. Plus: Melodie in E Major Op. 3 No. 3 and Rachmaninoff's arrangement of the Scherzo from Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Hyperion A 66009 from 1981. Analog recording. The record is NM, the cover is VG because of a short split which continues in a crack on both front and back at the insert side.

KURT LEIMER PLAYS CHOPIN - This recording of Kurt Leimer performing Chopin's Studies Op. 10 and 25, was a late release in 1961, NO STEREO EXISTS. The record is Excellent. And so is the cover. Deutsche Grammophon "Alle Hersteller". Reference number is LPEM 19 379. Pressed in Germany. Obviously an item for the collector.

IGOR MARKEVITCH DANCES FROM SPAIN - This a rare recording by Igor Markevitch when he was conductor of the Spanish Radio Orchestra on Philips 839 775 LY with soprano Angeles Chamotto, and Cobla Barcelona.
On the program: Seven Popular Spanish Songs (Manuel de Falla), Catalonia (Isaac Albeniz), Fanfare from Escriche (Ernesto Halfter), Mazurca, Villanesca, Goyescas, Zapateado, Asturiana (Enrique Granados).
The record is Excellent to Near Mint and so is the cover.

PHIA BERGHOUT - ROSA SPIER - HARPISTS - On Side One Rosa Spier and Phia Berghout play together Cambria (John Thomas). Etude mélodique (Alphonse Hasselmans) and Grand Study No. 6 (John Thomas) are performed by Rosa Spier. On Side Two Rosa Spoier plays La Gitana (Alkphons Hasselmans) and together with Phia Berghout Pièce (Marcel Soulage). GABRIEL TACCHINO POULENC - Gabriel Tacchino is the soloist in Poulenc's wonderful Piano Comncerto. And he is also in AUBADE, for Piano and 18 Instruments. George Prêtre conducts the Orchestra of "La société des concerts du conservatoire". This is a beautiful French glossy gatefold. Reference C 069-11259. Beautiful French pressing and excellent sound. Record is NM. The sleeve is Excellent because of an unobtrusive stain on the back.

On the program. Farandole (Bizet), Waltz from Serenade for Strings (Tchaikovsky), Adagio from Violin Concerto (Bruch) with violinist Henri Lewkovica / Levkovitch, Concert Waltz (Glasunov), Invitation to the Dance (Weber), Morgenstimmung, Anitra's Dance, In the Hall of the Mountain King (Grieg), Waltz of the Flowers (Tchaikovsky). The record is Excellent to NM. The cover is the same.
